easter retreat

today there was no PLH in church so for the first time in a few weeks was quite relaxed haha. got confirmed during the 8.45 service along with marie and kara. and people like hannah, yiying, cybil and rebecca got baptised. quite amazing to see all of us who have known each other for so long now go through this on the same day. now we are all ready to live our lives for Christ and be members of the church, from last time quarreling during sunday school and stuff like that lol. personal thoughts about getting confirmed won't be here cos i'm also not so sure what to write about. i pretty much did all my decision making back in december so there's nothing much new i guess? was thinking how funny i would look getting confirmed without my hair lol. oh ya i forgot to mention, CJ soccer team has had to shave our heads for team bonding so now i'm nearly bald hahaha... anws after service quite a few of us went up to the MPH to play the music instruments. quite funny to see all of us so interested in music. it's such a wonderful thing actually:) haha. david and jon and i were playing backstreet boys songs on the three guitars lol. actually the two of them have really improved alot. main thing now i think is to work on their strumming.

well now it's time to talk abt the easter retreat! first i must thank the youth comm for putting in alot of effort and ideas to make the camp possible and the great organisation throughout the camp as well. special thx to yiying who was chairperson of the whole easter retreat:) and uncle sim kang and all the mentors like aunty cat who helped as well:) the seniors who came back to help conduct the games were really really alot of help as well! took alot of things off the youth comm's hands which i am super duper grateful for.

ok, first day youth comm had to reach church early at 2pm to prepare for the people coming at 3pm. i was at the registration counter with my crew cut and army cap so i think it must have been like registering for the army to those people who came for camp lol. i was kinda barking out loud orders as well. haha. sorry, too much NCC in me:) then after grouping them up on the spot we told them all their groups. for this camp youth comm decided to let youth comm members be part of the groups to help foster fellowship. and also to have a young person as the leader (prepare for the next generation of PLH leaders! lol) and an older person to be assistant leader to help out the leader. the group names were the most creative word the leader could think up, and it's quite sad to see some of them having their vocabulary limited to words like "baldy" and "botak" lol.. then we had mass games which were all quite fun but i dont think i'm bothered enough to write abt it haha. at night we had 3 talks as well. dad's talk was probly the most interesting as it concerned BGR haha! dont really wanna resay what he said but i think the main point is we are not ready yet fullstop. i also read a funny bible passage to the PLH during my night announcement. it's 2Kings 2:23 onwards. go check it out yourself! then at night after youth comm meeting and having some band prac, went to the conference room to sleep. it was abt 1am when i went in. talked to david and jon til 3am, then david took out his phone and played "shape of my heart" by the backstreet boys and started singing. then as usual i sang along as well lol. jon joined in too and we sang lots of songs like toybox ones (tarzan&jane, the sailor song, best friend) then some other backstreet boys songs like "i want it that way". actually it's so cool that we still like these songs now cos they're quite old, like about 10 yrs ago i think haha:) then some worship songs like "testify to love" and "our god saves" and "rain down". easter retreat of cos must sing worship songs man! lol. actually david jon and me have quite a cool singing thing cos there are 3 of us then two can sing the normal part then the last one can sing the different part or echos, like a cool arcapella. especially since backstreet boys songs got a lot of other special effects hahaha. and those songs like "testify to love" we know we would "zao sia" so we purposely do it very funnily and cause the whole room to laugh haha! real hilarious, i think the whole room was having lots of fun at 4am in the morning. ok i slept for like 2 hrs and woke up at 6.30am. all the boys were up already and as usual, i'm the last to wake up during camp lol.

2nd day we had the workshop in the morning. actually it's quite standard cos it was just talking abt no sex til after marriage which i already know. so kinda hard to pay attention during the thing. can't believe how they had a workshop for 4hrs just on that one topic o.O ok, but credit to the two people who presented it to us cos they put in alot of effort. after that was the amazing race! the stations were all walking distance around church and we had to be back in church by 3.45pm. oh yes, my group is called "botak". thanks alot to keng gene our group leader. but i must say with two groups being named after me there is no question about my influence LOL. keng gene was group leader, jon fong was assistant leader, members in comm were me and samantha. other members were like kara, amanda, jon quek, christel leong, daphne, daniel, ben kee, si'en, sheryl and peter fu. amazing race was pretty fun! first station was at scape park and we had to do stupid nursery rhymes with actions in front of a crowd lol. "we're from raffles!" but anyone seeing si'en's st. nick's pe shirt would have known we were lying haha! then 2nd station was at smu had to solve puzzles and do star jumps. 3rd station was at fort canning where we had to pick up chopsticks with our toes. last station was at plaza sing. had to take photos of items in the super market so we split up. si'en and i were one group and had to take photos of some lime bitters thing, which we think is a spice, and alphabeto which was some pasta lol. after LOTS of searching at the pasta section we finally found the alphabeto thing hahaha. so stupid la lol. then last part no time already so didnt manage to find the lemon lime bitters. had to rush back to church and our group came in 3rd place. really felt like a real amazing race! just that the prizes were goodies and not a million bucks. think the seniors were superb in thinking up the stations cos it was really creative!:)
ok then back to church were we had some wrestling matches. despite not being fully fit i still decided to put my title on the line cos i am a fighting champion! HAHA. first up was jon! actually jon is quite big but somehow i can beat him everytime. so my record against jon is 3 out of 3 lol. this time was relatively fast compared to the royal rumble match at BBC. but it still tired me out. then next was david. after the tough match against jon i was in poor condition to face david but i didnt care cos it was just so fun that i wanted to wrestle lol. this time david was harder to pin than during BBC. it was quite a close fight. at the first part i almost lost cos david did a fast attack that got me on the ground and i managed to get out of it in the knick of time. it woke me up a bit that it was gonna be tough so i decided to go in harder. david was trying alot of fast attacks at my knee to get me off the ground but after his first pin attempt i was ready so could counter them. i had many close pinfalls on david but he managed to get out of them except for one at the last part which i think he was already pinned but he said his other shoulder was not down yet. so was pretty disappointed that i couldnt beat him in the end cos i had been more offensive but dad came in to stop us cos we were late for the final debrief so the match could not be concluded. there was a good crowd too cos the boys were watching so we gave them a fun match! haha. so i will be working hard to keep in shape for the next match cos david is the no.1 contender to my championship and also bcos jon will be looking for revenge haha. we havent played pool for awhile as well and i think i'm still the champion since our last game haha.

well i think easter retreat was really good! great job to youth comm once again! think we are getting better at working together and there's still church camp to come! it was great that si'en could come too! glad you had fun haha. only pity is that you missed the talks.

well.. this week is gonna be quite packed again. but i guess i'm more or less getting used to it. tmr is our first A-division match of the season against dunman high. dont think i'll be playing cos i still havent got my jersey yet! stupid shop take so long. then tuesday the jersey will arrive and also going to maroon 5 concert with YC!:) then wed got light football training and parent-teacher meeting. thursday is A'div match against hwa chong and friday will most likely have training again. then sat is the st.nick's fiesta and sunday is church again. also need to go make contact lens to wear during competitive games. besides all these still got to do school work and all that jazz. haha.

and tonight is the BIG GAME!!! the biggest game in the world: when liverpool meet manchester united! tonight will be at old trafford so it's a bit daunting but i think liverpool definitely have a good chance of putting one over our great rivals. if the whole team plays well and players like torres, gerrard and mascherano are on song then i think we can get the win. it's been too long since a win in the league against the scum so really can't wait for the game haha. still got about 2hrs more til 9.30pm. then the other game is chelsea vs arsenal. hope arsenal win and hopefully we can do arsenal a favour in the title race by beating man utd and at the same time having some hope ourselves cos if we win tonight it's an 8-point gap with 7 games to go in the season. oh man can't wait! haha.

ok i think i've said too much. this post is probably a good contender for longest post i've ever done lol. i end now.

ok the workload is getting to me.. got lotsa stuff to do. such as preparing for easter retreat, quite alot of school work, football trainings and everything else.. super tired. i will go straight to sleep right after this post.. been coming home like 8pm everyday this week and having a late dinner. football team has morning run tmr at 6.45am... and school ends at 5pm tmr. what nonsense.. then there's easter retreat on friday. which means not alot of sleep too.. getting real tired. headache sia.. i'm getting a bit irritable too.. guess that's what happens when you sleep too little. i've only had like half a term of school lah. dunno how i'm gonna survive the next 3 terms. 9 more months.. but next year gonna be even more busy.. die die liao.
had football training today too. super tiring. think i have a fair chance of getting into the A-division squad. we're giving coach a selection headache. so he says tmr he'll tell us who's in the team and who's not. supposed to tell us on monday but he still hasn't decided yet. then the A-division tournament starts next week too. so if i'm selected there'll be no time to rest of whatever.
oh well, no choice. just have to keep going. think i need a very very good afternoon nap this sunday before the man utd vs liverpool game at 9.30pm. that's something to look forward too:)

march holiday

well i would say this week has been a pretty ok one. the holidays have been more of a holiday than i initially expected.
monday and tuesday had to go back to school for extra lessons and football training.
wednesday went out with joe. haven't been able to do that for quite some time for some reason.. so it was a great time:) met at bishan library in the morning to study. i don't think we were very successful. ended up talking quite abit. but hey i rather catch up with me best bud than with my studies haha:) then we went to the gym to lift some weights. yeah could feel the burn in our muscles. then went to the stadium to run for awhile. gave up soon after lol. too tired out from gym liao. leg muscles feeling alot of strain. then went to j8 to catch a movie. ran into si'en there too, so coincidental lah haha. watching different movies but at the same time. joe and i watched waterhorse. think it wasn't very good. i think the best way to put it would be.. it was a typical children's bedtime story. no moral, not much action.. lousy story too i think.. the only cool part would be when the waterhorse was a cute baby. but it grew to a giant in less than a week. what a waste. "cruusooe!!!! cooomme!!!" that's the only cool quote of the whole show LOL.
after the show joe and i walked around for awhile but soon realised there was nothing to be done at j8, so went to his house. watched "balls of fury" there. super funny lah. hahaha. laughed until stomach pain xD then played fifa on their xbox too. i got trashed in every game by jeremy and jordan lah. think cos they upgraded all the arsenal players to stats 99. liverpool put up tough fights but in the end lost by scores like 7-0 HAHA...
thursday went back to school for econs project. then evening went out with family for dinner. we saw some little girl wearing a man utd jersey and dad said "hammer her" hahaha. ate quite alot and shopped around:/
yesterday went to macritchie for football training. had to run 2 rounds of the route, so it amounted to like 9.6km. count in the slopes and everything it's about 10km lah. finished first in the team again. that may be good for me but like dad said, i think it's not good for the team. i just got into the team two weeks ago and i'm already faster than them. i think a-division our stamina levels could be in trouble. but i've seen them on the pitch lah. so we should be ok actually.. the team is quite well-built and strong. skill level wise definitely better than what i was used to at maris stella.
champions league quarter final draw is out too. liverpool will play arsenal, chelsea vs fenerbache, barcelona vs schalke and man utd vs roma. the semi-finals will be
liverpool/arsenal vs chelsea/fenerbache
man utd/roma vs barca/schalke
if liverpool are to win a 6th champions league we could have to play arsenal, then chelsea, and then man utd in the final. if we win it like that i think it will be the greatest champions league win ever. haha:) but i think arsenal are the worst team to get. personally i would rather have gotten man utd, chelsea or barca all over arsenal. i bet we could beat those teams much easier than arsenal. but recently the gunners have not been in the best of form, so maybe it's ok to play them. but i'm sure by april they will be ready for us. so i'm hanging on the fact that the 2nd leg will be played at anfield. and there's a slight chance that roma will take revenge over man utd too. and i'm sure lots of people will love that. well, we'll see how it all shapes out. april is gonna be very, very exciting. lots of big games coming up. liverpool still have to play man utd and arsenal. and of cos the big merseyside derby at anfield. always the highlight of my season:)
alright, gonna watch the musical later this evening. so i've got the afternoon to either slack, or do some revision.. hmm...

hey people! last week was ok. just went for lectures and tutorials. and football training as well:) good thing there's the one week march holiday break now though. altho i still have to go back to school for extra lessons and football training i DO still get to rest a bit. lol. normally nowadays in singapore we dont get much rest..
easter retreat is coming up as well. so youth comm has to organise that. hope there will be a bigger turnout than for games day though..
games day was initially disappointing due to the no. of people who went but i think the youth comm worked really well to think up new games on the spot. not just new games, but fun ones too! the mass games were fun, dirty and wet. dont really wanna elaborate cos i've already posted on the PLH blog. haha.
the boys played street soccer too. actually we played too much soccer haha.. and i got a big blister for playing bare-footed-.-
YC and si'en came and turned out to be the only newcomers there.. disappointing!! but i'm sure they had fun:)
there was badminton and table tennis afterwards too. it ended by 4pm. i'm pretty sure that everyone had fun:) think the organisation and stuff still can be improved but it's the first assignment for youth comm so it's still a learning process..
other than that i dont think i have much to talk about.:/

hey people! will do a short update here!!!
first up is the video on youtube of my song for joe's bday. yeah i wrote the song myself:) go to youtube and search for "joseph's birthday!" many thanks to hui xian who did the video:) think my voice sounds quite distorted. and hui xian wasn't able to catch the first verse. but it's still cool:) haha. thanks to the band who played too (liesl, amanda, athelia & gabriel), tim for the PA management and hannah for helping present the birthday cake!
also i've got into the CJ soccer team!:) actually wanted to try as striker, but the team for the trials had two strikers who weren't willing to play any other position. so i consented to play in midfield instead. think it was actually why the coach picked me, cos i was running up and down the field the entire game. he asked me to play defensive midfield afterwards, think cos i was organising the defence pretty ok and making some good tackles to protect the back four. yup, i'm actually quite excited to be playing in this new role!:D from now on gonna watch players like mascherano, alonso, makalele, etc.. real closely to see how to play it well. training is real tough, about 3-4 times a week. then to make it into the A-div squad will need to run 3km in 12min and attain 12.0 for beep test! o.O in sec school i think i got 10.4. so need to improve on that over the march hols!
during march hols also need to go back to school for bridging lessons cos i missed the first 6 weeks of school. lol. work is piling up too. gotta revise and stuff:( jc seems quite tough..
also, the PLH games day is this saturday!! gotta make sure everything is good to go. organising and stuff.. real hectic. now gotta do a real tough balancing act, juggling studies (catching up on first 6 weeks as well as making sure i'm still following now), football, church (comm and band) plus everything else like family, friends, etc..
dang.. then tonight gotta do all my work, some stupid GP paper which is actually gonna be our CA1 grade.. plus revise maths, econs and physics.. plus some other stuff which i can't remember now haha...
