CJC and Church Camp 2008

well i'm finally back from my camps!
CJC leadership camp was pretty good! learnt quite a bit and had lots of fun.
first day we climbed bukit timah hill which was pretty ok for me.
2nd day we had stuff like flying fox and some pole jump thing and some problem-sloving stuff.
3rd day was things like rock-climbing and abseiling and WARGH games. i won a mission for my group cos i went to hide in some think undergrowth and didn't get caught by the enemy team. i suffered tons of mosquito bites but they're gone now haha.
my group was really fun and everyone was real cooperative:)
then i had to leave early on the last day for church camp in malacca.

anws what i wanna talk more about cos it's still fresh in my memory is church camp!!!
arrived in camp kinda gong-gong cos i slept in the car on the way after my Cj camp. got into my room (216) with the twins and jon quek. at night we just had PLH orientation and got into our groups. my group was the RED group and we gave ourselves the name ELMO! hahaha. michelle goh was leader, i was assistant, then there was grace, sharon, shane, lucas, gwendolyn, ben kee, amanda ng, and tiffany. our group was pretty quiet at first i think but during the camp we got louder haha. we had birthday parties at night for lydia and kurt too lol. slept pretty late.
woke up the next morning for devotion and we went near the swimming pool to do it. i went to look at the sea and it really struck me how awesome God is to have made everything on earth:)
our group was aiming to win best skit and so we did lots of rehearsals. i mean, really alot!!! everytime we had free time we just did it and went over the play again and again. haha. in the afternoon we had beach games too. there was a treaure hunt and we had to build sandcastles. i must say i really enjoy being in a group as well as part of youth comm. we can organise the games AND play them too!! haha. the best part i get to make some new friends in my group:)
then we had demolishing of sandcastles (YOU FOOLS!) haha.
then there was poisonball which shane and lucas won for the two games we played. good on you guys!! although the guys kinda tried to eliminate all the girls first, so we apologise for that:/ i was eliminated pretty unluckily for both games i think:( one funny bounce on the sand and one when i was unsuspecting on the ground. but oh well. haha. my group's sandcastle was pretty good i think. there was a wall and everything. oh and before the people arrived the youth comm had to bury the treasure hunt stuff and when we had finished, we were body-slamming each other in the sand haha. weile and yiren were trying to tackle me and i also pulled grace and yiying into the sand haha. played guitar for the worship in the evening and my group did more rehearsals into the night. we finished abt 11plus haha.
on the 3rd day i woke up a few minutes late for devotion and then we had buzz groups and everything. my group did final rehearsals in the afternoon and then we had free time. it was the twin's birthdays so they and michelle goh followed my family to mahkota where we shopped. then we had dinner with them too although the place was kinda stupid but the food was nice at least. the person cooking the food also looked quite skillful but jon and i didnt want to eat the prawns so when nobody was looking we threw them into the dustbin thing on the stove haha!! like some game lol. then we came back at night and everyone else was rehearsing their skits i think. i was watching football in room 839 til 2am. super boring game but it's the first match i've watched in a month.
8 june: PLH FIESTA!!! i skipped my lunch cos had to prepare everything for the fiesta. the groups were all there by 2.15pm and we let them into the dark room group by group. i don't think they were really scared but all we wanted was the effect when we turned on the lights and played the funkytown music haha. youth comm did some mini-dance which was not rehearsed haha. then we got into our groups and took photos. there was the cheer competition next which our group tried not to do well for cos we wanted to win best skit haha. every group didnt really cheer well cos i think they were all preparing for the skits and forgot all abt the cheers haha. the skit competition was great!! cos our group won haha! all our hard work really paid off i think and the whole team really put in alot of teamwork and cooperation to coordinate the whole play. i think hui xian and uncle kok choo got it on video. i head hui xian is putting it up on youtube lol. we might have to do it on youth sunday too:) everyone really acted really well on the real thing and the actual performance was much better than any of the rehearsals we did. altho i must say the other groups were pretty good too.
the prizes were:
best skit - ELMO! (tio emo) (red)
best cheer - mata gang (blue)
best sandcastle- sunshine (yellow)
best photo - shut up (purple)
best costume - tigger tio diarrhoea (orange)
best team spirit - don't tell you (green)
i must say the prizes were given out more easily then i expected haha. as in, the prizes really suited the groups and i don't think any group was second place for the prize they received. due to the youth comm wanting every group to have a prize.
my group got 2nd for cheers, team spirit, and costumes. and 3rd for sandcastle too:) splendid job.
at night was Worship Xplosion!! had to play guitar. there were 14 songs in total and my fingers were really getting it bad from playing the guitar. haha. but it was worth it to see the whole PLH jumping and singing for the songs. why not it be like that for EVERY week!?:)
then after worshipX i went to room 839 to play cards with sam and eric and kurt and marie.
last day was just checking out and everything. went to have lunch and shop in the afternoon with hannah, grace, and jon quek. then slept on the way home.
what a great camp. i didn't really expect it to turn out this good and thx to all the youth comm for all the effort put in. it's been really stressful and tiring. and i can't stop now cos we still have to organise youth sunday and stuff like that. plus i have to study for my midyrs which is up in two weeks. haha. never ending. but oh well.. thank God for such a great and successful camp. and all the bonds made and everything:)
i can't really think of much else to write at the moment. lots of stuff that still needs to be done. i mean, alot!! in school, football, comm, everything! it's really never-ending:( i can't wait to get into the army, then i can just focus on that and have less stuff to do. haha. or maybe it'll be more busy then:/ oh well..
just have to leave the rest to God and just do what i can. ok, it's back to work now!
