steven gerrard week

today went out with shaun, hannah, marie and michelle goh. we met at toa payoh and then dunno what to do so we went all the way to pasir ris. then cos jeremy and jordan were there at their grandma's house so we went there and played xbox! haha. as usual i got really animated and loud while using liverpool on the fifa 07. haha. actually we wanted a picnic but it was too hot so we had a picnic in the house instead haha. a very small one. only got one packet of teddy biscuits and some ice-cream. afterwards we had dinner at burger king and joe came to talk too.

anws this week on the liverpool website is "Steven Gerrard week". cos he's been playing in the liverpool first team for 10 years. since he made his debut against blackburn as an 18-year old all the way til now. there's been alot of talk about whether he's been liverpool's best player ever. for me there's no question about it. although i never got to see players like kenny daglish and kevin keegan play, i'm pretty sure stevieG has been the most complete player ever. he can shoot, pass, tackle, head, etc... he's definitely been the most complete player. you talk about cristiano ronaldo, kaka, messi, henry, etc.. but can any of them tackle and defend like gerrard? how many times have they rescued their team in a big match in the last minute? usually only strikers can do that for their clubs, but even then only a handful have been able to do it as often as gerrard rescues liverpool. pele and maradona may be like the best players ever, but i don't think they are as complete as gerrard. moreover, he's been at liverpool his whole life, since his schoolboy days. that in itself speaks about his loyalty to the club. he's never had any drinking or partying or prostitute (like cristiano ronaldo) problems.
of course there are counter arguments like he's not as good a striker as torres, etc.. and i do agree with that. but i think that as a PLAYER he's definitely right up there with all-time greats all over the world. definitely, when you think about his all-round play and ability, and the number of times he's done it in big matches. all he needs is some premier league medals and international glory. which might be hard to find with england now, so hopefully fabio capello works some magic there too.
yeah well, this are just my opinions. it's hard to define what you would call the best footballer in the world/of all-time. but for me, just bcos i'm a liverpool supporter, the best player in the world of all-time (at the moment) is steven gerrard. our local boy turned hero.
